Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept freelance submissions year-round?

Yes. We accept pitches for our autumn editorial calendar, our long-form Archive series, and our midnight newsletter. Expect a reply within fourteen days from a real human editor, not a bot.

Can I pitch a costume or product roundup?

Only if it serves a story. We avoid pure gift guides. Lead with cultural context, history, or atmosphere, and we will consider product angles that fit the editorial frame.

How do press inquiries and embargoes work?

Email our press desk with your outlet, deadline, and embargo window. We respond within two business days and can schedule pre-recorded interviews around press timelines.

Will you publish my personal ghost story?

We publish selected reader folklore in our Letters column. Send a 200-word account with location, year, and whether you want attribution or full anonymity preserved.

Before You Write

Every message enters a queue read by a small editorial team obsessed with atmosphere. Pitches with a clear angle, target season, and reference links move faster than vague submissions. We reward specificity, original reporting, and a distinct voice over polished press releases.

Include your byline, links to three relevant clips, and a one-line pitch summary in the first paragraph. Attachments over ten megabytes will not open. Allow up to two weeks for a response, longer during October when our inbox runs red.
